Installation Instructions for CCStudio v2.21 and the
Spectrum Digital XDS510 USB/PP+ JTAG Emulator

Overview
This page is a guide to installing the Spectrum Digital XDS510 USB JTAG emulator -or- XDS510 PP+ JTAG emulator for use with Code Composer Studio version 2.21 ( aka. CCStudio v2.21 ). These instructions assume that you have already installed CCStudio in the default directory of:
 C:\ti

NOTE: If you have chosen to install CCStudio in a different location you must manually adjust each step below to match your actual install path.

XDS510 USB Emulator

Step 1 - Download & Install Emulation Drivers
All Spectrum Digital JTAG emulation drivers for the CCStudio v2.21 platform are divided into 4 driver installers. The driver installer for each include drivers both across processor architectures (C2000, C5000, C6000, ARM, and OMAP) as well as across emulator types (USB, parallel port, PCI). Download the driver package using this link:

>> C5000 Driver Release 2.21.03 [31-May-2005] <<

Step 2 - Connect your Emulator to your PC
For XDS510 USB JTAG Emulator
  1. Connect the XDS510 USB JTAG emulator to your PC through a USB cable. The red USB-ACTIVE light will light for about one second and then turn off.
  2. For first time use of the XDS510 USB JTAG emulator, windows will perform a new Hardware routine. Select the Install from a specific location option.
  3. Then select "Search for the best driver" option
  4. Browse to include C:\ti\specdig\xds510usb\ subdirectory of your CCStudio installation.

New Hardware Wizard
For XDS510 PP+ JTAG Emulator
  1. Connect the XDS510 PP+ JTAG emulator to your PC through the included parallel cable.
  2. Connect the included +5V power suppy to the emulator.
  3. The following steps below require that the parallel port I/O address on your PC be at 0x378. In the Software guide, go to the PC I/O Port section to figure out what your parallel port I/O address is and if it needs to be changed.

Step 3 - Download & Install Configuration Files (Optional)
Before you can actually talk to your target board, CCStudio needs to know some details about the emulator being used, the JTAG scan chain configuration of the processor on the board and the location of any startup GEL files. This information is configured in the CCStudio Setup application and can be stored as import configuration files. Many of these configurations are included with CCStudio for generic platforms and DSP Developer Starter Kits (DSKs). If you are working with popular Spectrum Digital target boards, you can find configuration files here. Download the configuration file installer in Table #1 below and launch it to add the configuration files.
